President’s Message Fall 2003

Greetings!  I’m pleased to correspond with you again as we bask in the glow of another successful Colusi County Historical Society field trip. I trust that all who participated in the trip to Vina Monastery found the time well spent. Thanks to our membership director Patti McFarlin for the many hours of work planning the logistics of this trip.

As some of you may know, my term as president of the CCHS comes to an end at the annual meeting this coming February.  The three years have come and gone so quickly.  I feel that we have made quite a bit of progress during my tenure. I am particularly proud of our entry into cyber-space with www.colusi.org.

I hope you have all seen Dr. Gene Russell’s quizzes at our web-site.  They can be a challenge!  I would like to thank all of the directors and members who have made my term as president so memorable.  Dr. Richard Johnson has been my mentor throughout. From Dr. Marvin Locke I learned the value of field trips in lieu of stationary meetings.

Dr. Gene Russell, Barbara Ash, and all of our county ambassadors have helped to ‘get the message to the people.’  I would also like to thank Jim Lambert for admirably ‘filling the shoes’ of his father as our treasurer. I plan to continue on the board and hope to write for Wagon Wheels for as long as our editor allows me to. It has been a great three years!
