The Mission The Colusi County Historical Society was organized in 1951 to develop, for both the young and the old, an understanding and respect for our rich and unique cultural background; Perpetuate the memories of those who have lived and done things for the betterment of their county, state and nation; Preserve pioneer history through biographical sketches, diaries, letters, memoirs, etc., so that the past will enrich the future; Provide accurate records of the present day that will serve as history for the future; Provide material and diffuse historical information and; Provide a repository in a central location for the collection of artifacts, printed material, pictures, art, clothing and all objects of historical interest or value. |
|
The Meetings The Colusi County Historical Society has three luncheon meetings annually. All meetings are held on a Saturday and they begin at noon. The "annual meeting" is in February and it is held in Colusa. The "spring Meeting" is in May and it is held in Glenn County. The "fall meeting" is in October and it is held in Tehama County. Each meeting features a distinguished speaker discussing some facet of the area's history. The meetings give each member the opportunity to meet old friends and acquaintances and also to meet new ones. If you have any roots in any of these three counties, Colusa, Glenn or Tehama, you will probably find at least one distant cousin at any of our meetings. It may be one whom you never knew existed. |
