2003 Spring Meeting

The 2003 spring meeting of the Colusi County Historical Society was held on  Saturday, April 19, 2003. The location was in the historic town of Sites, which is located west of Maxwell in Colusa County.

The meeting consisted of two segments. A bus tour of the proposed Sites Reservoir and adjacent historical landmarks departed  from the Maxwell High School parking lot at 9:00 AM.  A cemetery in this town is scheduled to be relocated to Maxwell, due to a project in the construction of a reservoir at the present location.

We also visited Granville Swift’s stone corral and the Sites Quarry on our way to the reservoir site.  At the conclusion of the bus trip, we  gathered at the Maxwell Inn for a luncheon and audio/visual program dedicated to the proposed reservoir. Our speaker was Sites resident and water advocate Mary Wells.

Our Webmaster, Clark Cook was unable to attend this trip, due to his heavy workload schedule with United Airlines. However, he was able to provide some photos of the Sites Cemetery, taken on a previous trip with our president, Charles Martin. Please check back soon when more photos become available.
